Importing Geometry and Materials (CAE file) from ABAQUS into ANSYS
I have already a model made on ABAQUS with materials also assigned. I also have the full licensed version. I will do the meshing and simulation on ANSYS but I need to transfer the geometry and materials first to ANSYS. Is it possible to do it?
Comments
Drag an External Model component from the toolbox and drop that in Workbench project schematic. Double click on Setup and you can point to an ABAQUS file (.inp or .dat). Then drag out a Static Structural analysis onto the project schematic. Finally drag and drop the External model onto Engineering Data cell and Model cell of Static Structural to import the data. Use the ANSYS Help system to find out more information.
It does import the model however, It is not 100 percent accurate. There are also no material properties to add in the engineering data option..jpg?width=690&upscale=false)
My image shows two links from Setup. One of them goes to Engineering Data. Your image shows one link and nothing going to Engineering Data. Drag and drop the Setup cell of the External Model onto the Engineering Data cell.
Yes, I tried to do that but it does not give me that option. It only allows me to drag it to the model.
The links can be created first. Do the drag and drop before you edit the Setup cell.
Even before editing the setup cell, it only allows me to establish link with the model and not with the engineering data.
What version of ANSYS are you using? My working example is from 2019 R3
R16 2014.
New version, new features. You will have to move the materials over manually.
