Fourier number is a dimensionless group which arises from the non-dimensionalization of the conduction equation. It is a measure of heat conducted through a body relative to the heat stored. Fourier number characterizes the time scales in conduction problem. Biot number on the other hand is the ratio of the internal resistance of a body to heat conduction to its external resistance to heat convection.
