Scaled model for full scale aircraft

Hello, most of the wind tunnel videos I have seen online show a scaled model of aircraft. Can someone please explain how the experimental results from this scaled model help make design decisions for the full scale aircraft?

Hello, the link between the wind tunnel experiments on a scaled model and the real world full-scale application is the concept of Dimensional Analysis and similarity. To ensure the geometric similarity you just need to have a model that is a complete scaled representation of the real-size model. For the dynamic similarity you must ensure that the non dimensional numbers that govern your physics are the same. In that way what you see on the model would represents what you would see in the real-size object. For more information check out these highly informative and engaging courses on fluid mechanics.
