The lift is the force that allows airplanes to fly. Lift is the component of the aerodynamic force perpendicular to the relative wind, or free stream velocity, acting on the center of pressure of a body. In race cars, elements such the spoiler generate a down pointing lift, the down-force, that is used to increase the grip.
