The complex high-fidelity models can be simplified into what are called Reduced Order Models. These ROMs have the ability to capture the physics as the original model but at significantly reduced computational cost. These are replacements for the full-blown 3D simulations and are primarily used in the optimization of product designs, simulating system-level phenomena, testing controls, creating digital twins, as well as enabling as a simple calculator for non-experts to use simulations.
