Analysis system missing in toolbox (Ansys student 2020 R2)
Hello,
I just downloaded Ansys student 2020 R2 and I am not able to find the analysis system in the toolbox. I went through the forum and tried a couple of things.
- View - Reset Workspace, View - Customize toolbox (didn't help)
- rename the v202 folder to anything else (didn't help)
- open up CMD Prompt, then issue the following command (this is for default installation path, if you've installed it in a non-default path, you have to change the path accordingly)
"C:Program FilesANSYS IncANSYS StudentShared FilesLicensingwinx64ansysli_util" -checkout aa_t_i
and I initially got a message saying:
INFO Demo license file C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\Shared Files\Licensing\student.lic exists.
'INFO' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
aa_t_i OUT

Resolved by Feature: id=183 feature=aa_t_i product=ANSYS Academic Teaching Introductory
'Resolved' is not recognized as an internal or external command,

After I allowed access to the license through the windows firewall, I got a message saying:
INFO Demo license file C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\Shared Files\Licensing\student.lic exists.
aa_t_i OUT

But even after trying this out, The analysis system is not appearing in the toolbox.
I request you to help me resolve this soon.
Thank you,

Hi Prathiksha,
Check out the resolutions in
and
basically, check if you have the two environment variables set. If so, delete them.
Thanks,
Win
I am seeing the same problem as Prathiksha -- no analysis system in the toolbox with Workbench 2020 R2. I have followed the advice given with environment variables and opened up the firewall for license server.
Please advise how to fix.
@tsiriaks please advise how to fix
Please post the output of 'set' command (without quote) from CMD Prompt

Interesting.
Try this. Make sure all ANSYS applications are closed, then rename
D:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\Shared Files\Licensing\ansyslmd.ini
to anything else (e.g., ansyslmd.bak)
Then, open CMD Prompt and enter the following command
move "%appdata%\ansys" "%appdata%\ansys.old"
Does this help ?
If not, try the following commands
set ANSYSLI_ELASTIC=
set ANSYSLI_LCP=
set Path=C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem
"D:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\v202\Framework\bin\Win64\runwb2.exe"
Does this WB session work ?

Licenses seem to be installed ok....
Now I think this is not licensing issue anymore.
Check your D:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\
to see if you have install.err file. If so, post the content here.
You can also try running
D:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\v202\productconfig.exe
with 'run as administrator', then select Configure products and configure them all in the list.
Hello Tsiriaks
there is not "install.err" file. "Install.log" does not contain any error messages.
I ran thru all the functions in productconfig.exe but still cannot see CAD modules...the list of products to configure is empty. Screenshots are in reverse order below..
Wait, your 'Select the product(s) to configure' page is blank
Please post the top part of your install.log before it starts the extraction. If you did multiple installations, post the top part of each occasion.
Also, in Workbench -> Help -> About ANSYS Workbench , then post the screenshot of it here
Now, I think you probably have two locations of ANSYS 2020 R2 installed on the machine and your environment variables and shortcuts are pointing to the wrong one.
Hello Tsiriaks
you are right, I originally tried to install on C: but ran out of space so change to install on D:.
So i decided to go right back to the beginning an reinstall...
Results...
In short, no visible change. Not sure why this is so difficult.....HELP !!!
I attach relevant images. I tried running ANSLIC_ADMIN based on some old FAQ i found online and got an error message. Not sure if that helps.
Hello Tsiriaks....any thoughts on the above ?
Now, I see. You use the wrong package. I thought you also use the 'ANSYS Student' package when you first described the issue. It seems you just meant ANSYS Student version/license.
The 'AIM' package does allow you to open Workbench (because AIM is customized from Workbench) but this Workbench won't function on itself. If you use this package, you must use only the Discovery AIM.
Try the other package 'ANSYS Student', see if that makes a difference.
Hello Tsiriaks
this works, thank you !!
Actually the difference between the 3 student packages is not really clear. I understood AIM is a newer package with much faster simulation results, so that's why i chose that. Is it possible to upload CAD model and do fluid/thermal simulation in AIM, or should i stick with Ansys student ?
Best regards -- George
That's great ! Thanks for the update.
AIM is mostly for 'designer' to quickly view some simulation results per the design that you make. But if you want thorough calculations, you need to use the flagship solvers like Mechanical, Fluent, etc. , which are available in ANSYS Student installation package.
As for the question with CAD, I'd recommend to ask that on another section like
they would be able to provide a better response.
I have installed Ansys 2020 R2 and the analysis tool is missed up, I wrote the follwing command "set" s
