Create slots in brake disc
I want to create slots in brake disc with best efficiency (i.e with most strength) using topology optimization in Ansys. I have tried doing it.
I created a circular disc with a circular large hole in centre along with 4 smaller circular holes as bolting positions. While doing optimization, I set up exclusion region as Circumference of brake disc and bolting position (rest design region). Objective:minimize mass. Response constraint: Global von misses stress=400 MPa. I have also added cyclic symmetry constraint with 4 sectors but I get the result as the following image. How can one create such type of rotor? What should I do so that I get proper pattern?

Is this for student competition? Also can you use program such as snipping tool to take images and post them inline to explain your setup?
