Total Beam Import to Space Claim From Text
Hi Everyone, I've gotten a lot of good info from this forum in the past and now have a question I have not been able to find an answer to. I have to generate a beam model that has about 200 beams that will be end to end but all have different profiles and material properties. My question is: Can I put the information into some kind of text format that would allow me to import the full set of beams with their profiles and material properties, since setting each individually will be a recurring nightmare. I can easily write a matlab script to put the info into whatever format is needed. Thanks in advance!

I forgot to mention i'm using ANSYS Mechanical Enterprise 19.2
Apologies, it seems like this query fell through cracks. You can import a text file in SpaceClaim so that it is automatically converted to curves.

Although assigning cross sections to the beams, will have to be a manual task. There is Scripting in 19.2 but there is no API to assign cross sections to the curves created. If your material properties and cross sections are limited, you can create multiple files for beams and import them as curves and assign the cross sections and material properties manually.
