Meshing A Thin Object

I am doing a 3D steady state thermal analysis on a system that has a very thin, cylindrical, heat shield (0.15mm thick and about 30mm long). Due to the thin-ness of the heat shield, I am unable to get a good quality mesh on it without using a very large number of elements (more than what is allowed by the student version). In this particular case, is it okay to to use bad quality elements for the shield (very thin hexahedral elements) or is there some best practice to follow when dealing with very thin geometries?
