Nasal cavity

Hello I converted a nasal cavity stl file to solid body in solid works. Now i want to define the fluid domain inside the body on solid works and after that i want to open that domain in design modeler. Is it necessary to close the external surface of the body with a planar surface? Or is it sufficient define inlet and outlet surfaces to create the solid domain? My final goal is meshing the fluid domain created in fluent.

Is that domain in the pictures already the fluid domain (the cavity where flows might enter) if yes: then you can start defining your inflow/outflow boundaries and create a mesh. If not you need to extract the fluid domain.

As an aside, review the original scan as the result looks very pixelated compared to the results I've seen in the literature. You may want to tidy up some of the spikes too as they may be caused by the extraction tool missing parts of the sinuses due to the MRI resolution. You'll see an older approach if you Google
