By default, ANSYS workbench allocates SOLID187 to model concrete. Would using this be fine for a bond test between rebar and concrete? I.e. both the structural steel and concrete are of the same element type?
Hi @ot2020 , I'm not aware of any problems with using solid187 for both steel and concrete. If you run into any problems, can you provide more information?
Hi @Kai ,
Sure. How can I model the cracks that appear in the concrete using SOLID187? I am doing a pull out of steel rebar from concrete and want to see how the concrete cracks as its being pulled out. Can this be done using the SOLID187 element?
You will need to use MAPDL. Only SOLID65 allows for the visualization of cracking via PLCRACK: https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v195/ans_arch/bascracktlm51799.html?q=plcrack
