Fluent Meshing 2020R1 Issue

Dear CFD Experts,

I am working on cfd analysis of data center, in that model we have a raised floor where my CRAC supply openings and perforated tiles connect the raised floor with data center room.

We prepared the model in spaceclaim 2020 R1 and before import to fluent meshing we did interference option and share topology option in Sapceclaim. Once the share topology operation is performed then we defined boundary name. See snapshot below

In Fluent meshing 2020R, we are using the watertight meshing workflow, the geometry is available in below we transfer link (removed - Rob). The link contains two files.a) final geometry model with share topology and assigned name selections.b) the model without share topology.

During the meshing, we defined the below sizes based on the geometry specification

Face sizing for different faces (20mm, 50mm, and 100 mm)

Surface mesh (minimum 20 mm and maximum 500 mm for the entire domain).

Consider three inflation layers

For volume polyhexcore mesh size is considered as 640 mm.

Problem: Surface mesh is finishing in 30-40 minutes, whereas assigning boundary types is taking atleast 2-3 hrs and volume mesh is taking 4 hrs. Can you please let us know what is the reason for such long time.

For perfoming the mesh, we are using 4 cores because as per the ANSYS base license we have only 4 cores.

System specification: 132 GB Ram, 32 logical processors

Any recommendations and suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Regards

Wali

  • Dear Team,

After waiting for 10 hrs, I am getting the below message

The heap warning means you may need to increase the buffer size given the number of labels. You may also be exceeding the Academic licence cell count, or are you using a Research key?

As an aside, staff are not permitted to open attachments. Other members of the community are not working under this rule.

  • Dear Rob,

How to increase buffer size, we are using commercial paid license and any other method to send the file.

Your prompt response will be highly appreciated

For commercial software you'd usually contact either the support email, Channel Partner or use the Customer Portal depending on your location.

The heap option should be covered in the Getting Started part of the documentation: local support can give more details than I'm able to on here. I'll also delete the file link as it's visible to everyone.

  • Dear Rob,

We raised the query to support team, but as the weekend starts i believe they will provide response by Monday only, but currently i am dealing with time shortage therefore any help will be highly useful.

    Regards

    Wali
