CHEMKIN Mechanism Reduction Error: there are failed run(s) in the CHEMKIN project using master mech

I am able to run the pre-processor with reaction mechanism, but at the mechanism reduction step getting the following, Error: there are failed run(s) in the CHEMKIN project using master mechanism.

Is there something that I am doing wrong? Getting same error at times for sample examples.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Hi Aniket:

Were you able to complete your run with the master mechanism? This is a requirement for reduction, as the reduction will look to target certain results obtained with the master mechanism, ie: temperature maximum or temperature endpoint, and the endpoint or maxima for certain species.

Note that targets with maximum and endpoint are currently not allowed and will cause the simulation to fail.

  • Hello!

I can breeze through pre-processing steps without a glitch. It is when I go to the Mechanism Reduction section that I am unable to complete the run. Am I choosing the targets incorrectly? I tried changing the maximum and endpoint to profile, but got a similar error.

Attached herewith is a screenshot of the error page.

The error message in the original post says "Error: there are failed run(s) in the CHEMKIN project using master mechanism." This means one of the runs in the initial Chemkin project failed to converge. I would suggest that the user run the initial Chemkin project and make sure it runs without any error.

You may also ask the user for

    a) what model they are using in Chemkin

    b) what targets they are using for reduction, and their tolerances.
