How to solve sys/surface error?

I am trying to create a block with 5 holes in it as shown. I made a sketch using spaceclaim and then pulled the surface to the required thickness. I then used the cut command to cut the holes so that there is no surface that remains however I am getting this error when i go into my model.
What is the correct way of creating holes such that the software recognizes it ?

Go back the SpaceClaim. After you did the cut, there should only be 1 solid in the outline. If you see some extra surfaces, delete those.
