Mechanical APDL Launcher not working

in Ansys Free Student Software

I recently installed Ansys Student Version and when i try to run the APDL launcher and click on the run button, the command window pops up and shows me the error as Check Firewall, even though all my firewalls are down. Please Help me.

    You are most likely connected to VPN. 

    Do the following: 


    STOP your local License Manager 

    Edit the ansyslmd.lic file under the C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\Shared Files\Licensing\license_files directory and change the hostname to the loopback  (127.0.0.7 ):

    from

    SERVER DESKTOP-H5PIUV5 FLEXID 1055

    TO

    SERVER 127.0.0.1 FLEXID 1055

    Save the license file. Restart the ANSYS LM


    Edit the ansyslmd.ini file and set the same information there and add the following variables (It should look like the following): 

    [email protected]

    [email protected]

    ANSYSLI_TIMEOUT_FLEXLM=15

    ANSYSLI_FLEXLM_TIMEOUT_ENV=15000000


    Test the application again.

    I have the same problem, but instructions didn't help.

    1) I cannot find that ansyslmd.lic file

    2) I am not sure I have License manager in student version. Probably just cannot find it

    Guess, I found the license manager.

    Maybe this explains a bit my first problem.
