Many components missing in 2021R1 workbench Analysis Systems after install from ISOs
Hello All,
I am a SysAdmin at a university, and am getting a number of complaints regarding the 2021R1 Ansys install I've deployed to a lab and other places. The Analysis Systems tab of Workbench 2021r1 is missing all components except for SPEOS. Both the 2019r3 and 2021r1 versions that have this variance were installed via ISO images downloaded from the customer portal.
Please let me know if you have any idea what is causing this variance, it's driving me up a wall. 2019r3 on left, 2021r1 on the right. I check all component boxes and spam the next button to install both. Has something changed in the install process I haven't noticed?
Thank you for your help.

@JustMason Please access the ANSYS Licensing Portal and download an updated license which should resolve this issue.

mmadore,
Thank you for the fast response, I'll download and apply this license immediately. My license manager is 2020r2, wil that be sufficient for the time being?
Thank you,
-Mason
Hello mmadore, No luck on the link you sent, any next steps? (license should be valid for 6+ more months)
Thank you,
-Mason
Mason, if you can update to 2021R1 for the license manager that is recommended. Let me have your ANSYS Account Team reissue the licenses for you and send them over.
Thanks
Matt
@JustMason Can you please try checking the Licensing Portal again? If you go to "Activate Entitlements" you can add your server information and get the updated license file. There was a problem with the records but it has been cleared up. This will probably be faster than getting it from your account team.
Thanks
Matt
Hello Matt,
I think all is well now, I'll attempt to download an updated license tomorrow.
Thank you!
-Mason
Hello Matt,
Most functionality is present now on 2021r1 of ANSYS, but the "aa_r" license is gone, which has crippled Mechanical APDL users. aa_r is present in the prior license file, but absent in the file downloaded from the portal on 2/12.
@JustMason This is covered in the document of changes. "aa_X" licenses no longer exist, users need to reset their preferences to begin using the revised license files. For Mechanical APDL users, please have them launch using Mechanical APDL Launcher and they can select the correct ANSYS Mechanical license from the dropdown.
