I have some problem with the syntax of the command addplanarsolid. I don't understand how the facets of the solid should be specified: in what order should the vertex be passed?
Thanks in advance
Hello @gabcavicchio ,
As far as I know the order of the vertices doesn't matter, as long as they correctly correspond to the vertices referred to by the facet definition. If you change the ordering of the vertices, you will also have to change the facet definitions to match the new ordering of the vertices. This page has diagrams that might be helpful for understanding how the planar solids are defined:
Thank you for your answer.
At the end I looked at the picture in the reference and I made it work. The facet is defined correctly if the vertice sequence identifies the outer normal vector to the facet. Similarly if I want to draw a hole in an existing facet I must define the vertices sequence such that they describe the inner normal to the figure.
Actually this mechanism should be more explicit in the documentation in my opinion, it would save a lot of time .
I'm glad to hear that your geometry is working now. Thank you for the feedback on the documentation, when I get a chance I will take a look at this page to see if the vertex ordering can be explained better.
