Realizing angled monitor and port

I'm simulating a grating coupler and I need to define an angled port(or alternatively a mode expansion monitor) that represents the output fiber. In the documentation I found that angled monitor are not allowed in Lumerical and that the best solution is defining a grid of point monitors and then interpolate the results. However, this is not suited for my simulation since I also need to compute the fiber mode and some overlap integral involving it.

I've also noted the rotation parameters (theta, phi and offset) in the port object. However, how does this parameters work is not clear to me. Do they rotate the plane where the mode is computed or they compute the mode on the original plane and then they rotate the mode?
