Thermo structural analysis of aircraft brake assembly

Hi guys,

I have been trying to do thermo structural analysis of aircraft brake assembly which has material non linearity as well as contact non linearity. There are some unconvergence error occuring whose screenshots are attached below. The boundary conditions are also given. Please someone help with it on urgent basis. If you need any information please reply with same.

    Hello @rohith123 ,

    As seen from the warning message, dedicated memory for the simulation was not available which has caused the warning. You may change the element size for the mesh reducing the overall number of nodes/elements.

    Since the model is symmetric, you may prefer using symmetry region so to minimize the geometry size and thus making the solution efficient.

    As mentioned in the error, you may search in the solution information for "error" using 'ctrl+f'. The more details on the errors can be found in Troubleshooting section.

    For the warning of un-converged solution, the possible reasons are- Material Model instability, Loading conditions exceed the limit, distorted elements and poor mesh at the critical locations. You might want to validate the same again and rescope it.

    I faced these errors before. The first one was saying ur pysical memory is not enough to continue this calculation, which requires u to add memory or change a more powerful computer. And the second, if Im right, u got some contacts probemens. Just check the catact tool and rewiew the results, following the contact guidance, see whats happening in ur connections. Hope these help.

    Hello @ssura ,

    I have tried quarter portion as per your suggestion. I have applied cyclic symmetry for both the end faces of quarter but I am not able to do meshing on it as they are showing error. Please help me on how to do quarter symmetry and viewing the result as a whole body.

    Hello @rohith123 ,

    You may try splitting edge in specific number of elements and then go for full body meshing. This will give you a better mesh control(More on this in the references (1)).Cyclic symmetry was a better option as non symmetrical results can also be obtained using the same. After updating the mesh, if the error still persists, you may add the screen capture/ error copy pasted here.

    You might try axis-symmetry as seen from the above screen capture, the boundary conditions are symmetric about the Z axis. This will also give you a better mesh control.

    You may even use planar symmetry to simulate the half model. It really depends up to the user convenience. Just make sure the symmetry normal and other options are aptly set.

    For expansion of the results, You must check the details of the symmetry tab if visual expansion is available, if not , enable the "Beta Options". The following path will help you for the same-

    Go to workbench project window ---> Tools ---> Options---> Appearance---> Check the Beta options check box.

    On doing so, whenever you click on the symmetry option in Mechanical, in the Details you will get the options for visual expansion of results. Adding a minute displacement value for the respective axis (For planar), and adding the number of sectors for cyclic will expand the results accordingly more on the same from the references below (3)
