The processing time or solving time for an Explicit Dynamics problem is directly proportional to the minimum element edge length in your entire mesh.nFor example, suppose in your original mesh, the minimum element edge length was 10 mm and in your new mesh, one element ended up with an edge length of 0.1 mm, the solution time just increased by a factor of 100.nUnder the Mesh Quality Metrics, there is one called Characteristic Length. You can use that to find the minimum value. Repair the geometry or use Mesh-based Defeaturing to increase the minimum value.n
