If you apply load on an edge then artificial stresses develop (hence all stress are concentrated on the edge and almost zero stress at other parts), which is the reason why it is never recommended to apply load on an edge. Hence I suggested using an I-section profile on a line body and then applying point load to it, which will act similar to what you want.
