Regarding your model, it may be helpful to do a sanity check against some of our native damage models. You can find these in the MAPDL Material Reference in chapter 4 - Nonlinear Material Properties section 4.22 Material Damage: https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v211/en/ans_mat/mat_damageall.html. We have native models specifically for simulating damage in composite materials. You can also debug your code using FORTRAN write statements, to see values at various intervals.
