Assuming you don't have interlocking blades (ie it's just a screw in a barrel/pipe) then sliding mesh is OK. Just put the sliding interface into the gap between the screw & casing.
If you have heaters you can mimic the effect using wall boundary conditions: set the heat flux or temperature based on what you know. Most of the tutorials covering thermal effects will have wall boundaries, there may not be anything specific to heaters.
