Hi, lets see this problem under practical condtions, can you unload or stop the explosion once its detonated ?, you can explore with begin and end time for specific explosive material model, but these will only contribute to additional energy release only and 1+ second is still long for explicit dyniamic to run , there is no kill and alive option in the explicit dynamics , check out the LSDYNA for such options, you can make them rigid but you will loose the reinforcment option that you use to model, or you can specify the an higher stifness constant making it compativley rigid to deform and somehow you can limit the detonation effects,
