Hi Eric Bish,
When you apply a structural load like Force in Ansys Discovery, by default it gets distributed across the scoped geometry. Thus, when a distributed load is used, it resembles a force per unit area. 
Thus for the concerned case, if the distributed force is set to 20 kN, the force per unit length won't be the same for the beams with lengths 1m and 1.5m if defined as a total force.
So if you want to keep the force per unit constant, you need to adjust the total load proportionally.
