Hello,

I am also using the moving heat source extension in ANSYS (2023 R1) to try and simulate a laser welding process.
I am trying to simulate the laser passing through a highly transparant body (presumably this means a low absorption coefficient) and welding it to another body underneath which has a very low transparancy (high absorption coefficient) so absorbs the lasers energy. My outputted results are temperature, total heat flux, mean temp and material removal.

The issue I am encountering is that no matter what values I use for the absorption coefficients in the moving heat energy there is no difference in any of the results, which is leading me to believe that the absorption coefficient doesn't change anything but I am sure this is not the case and there is a problem.

Any help regarding this issue would be massively appreciated.

Many thanks

Josh
