Hi Peter, I tried this as well. A detail worth mentioning is that the plates are held together with a pattern of bolted joints, which is also resolved during the first time step. I'd like the bolted joint there in order to observe the effect on preload due to plate bending while the interference is resolved and the separation force is applied. That said, having the plates initially separated creates another convergence issue.
