While I can see that exploded view doesn't work under "Mesh" tab in AIM, I am not sure why were you unable to use "Hide Body" option which is available under "Mesh".
Can you please let me know if I am missing something while am trying to reproduce your observations at my end. Please give it another try and do let me know if its working, else we will have to figure out what might be going wrong at your end specifically, because in general, this is expected to work.
