SubscriberHello,
I want to model a wind turbine using an actuator line model. Can you guide me on how it can be done in Ansys? I'm aware of actuator disk modelling, but for my master thesis, I need to use the actuator line model.
Thank you. -

Ansys EmployeeWhat's the difference between the two approaches?

SubscriberIn actuator line model, we consider blades of a turbine as line and apply lift and drag as source terms on the points.

Ansys EmployeeOK, so rather than a disk you need some rows of cells. You'll need to look at source term UDFs, and then how to map the line onto the Fluent 2d/3d mesh.

SubscriberYes, that's what's I need help with. How to do it?

Ansys EmployeeI'd start with the UDF Manual. There's a reason we include some models for you to use: if you need something else it may need to be added.
