SubscriberWe loaded ANSYS 2019 R2 onto our school server in May, 2019. Each time we launch Spaceclaim we receive and error noting "Additive Prep Module" is not found.
How can we eliminate this error? Note: It also occurs when launching Mechanical as well.
Attached is the error.
Thank you,
Phil

Ansys EmployeeHello Phil,
Is your license server up to date (i.e. v2019 R2)?
If not, please try installing v2019 R2 license server to fix this issue.

SubscriberRohith,
Our IT technician reports our license server is up to date at v2019 R2.
When we first started getting this error, I reached our to Jack Malluege, our academic liaison. He mentioned that 2019 R2 academic teaching license originally did not have the additive prep capabilities. However, it has been added.
I appreciate your help because the error is a nuisance for us. Especially during a design optimization simulation. Each design point creates the error and the student has to click OK.
I look forward to your evaluation and recommendation.

Ansys EmployeeHello Phil,
Thank you for the update. Can you also please try the below, and let me know if it works.
- Open SpaceClaim, go to:
- File->SpaceClaim Options->Add-Ins
- Uncheck Additive Prep
This might help stop the error popping up.
Best regards,
Rohith

SubscriberGood Morning Rhith,
When I uncheck the additive prep add-in in spaceclaim, close spaceclaim, and re-launch, the error goes away for that computer. When I log onto another computer in the same lab, I have to uncheck the add-in. It seems this approach is computer based.
I notice the additive add-in is greyed out (inactive) in our spaceclaim. I can still uncheck it. Do you know why it is inactive?
Thanks,
Phil

SubscriberHi Rohith,
Should I start a new discussion under licensing for the question about why our "additive" add-in is grayed out (inactive) in Spaceclaim?
I appreciate your help on this.

Ansys EmployeeHi Phil,
Do you have AM_PREP increment in your license file?
Best regards,
Rohith

SubscriberGood Morning Rhith,
Attached is our license file. I do not see AM_PREP within it.
Is this the cause of our "additive prep" error?
Thank you,
Phil

Ansys EmployeeHello Phil,
Thanks for checking and uploading the file. However, I am not allowed to download the attachments.
I believe this is the cause of the error (fixed in the future release --> i.e. you won't have error, even though you don't have am_prep. You would need to manually switch on Additive addin in spaceclaim to use it) and Additive addin being inactive.
Also, as you mentioned (below) that additive prep capabilities have been added to your 2019R2 academic teaching license, I am curious, why there is no am_prep increment in your license file. Please check if you can have an updated license file with this increment included.
"He mentioned that 2019 R2 academic teaching license originally did not have the additive prep capabilities. However, it has been added."
Best regards,
Rohith

SubscriberHaving similar issue to jonespa87. University of Iowa College of Engineering has ANSYS Academic Multiphysics Campus Solution (25/250) 2019 R2. The license file does not have the feature 16064 "Additive Prep". By default additive prep is included as part of the setup when starting Static Structure Geometry and each student needs to un-check this feature every login for every computer they use (student are using general access engineering workstations with network licensing). Sometimes this works, but the error keeps recurring even after the selection. Am I correct that this is a bug and it is corrected in later releases or do I need this feature added to the license.
Is there a system wide solution to change the default addition of "Additive Prep"?
Is this preference stored in the student profile or on the system drive? Our students do not have write access to "Program Files".
If an update fixes it, which one? We cannot change versions in the middle of the semester, but maybe a 2019 R3 would be OK.
Sorry for not understanding the solution to Phil's question and if it matched my problem completely.
