Hi, I have tried to do an electromagnetic simulation in Ansys workbench 17.1 after importing the geometry from Solid Edge 2019 via IGS format, and there was an unknown error made it unsuccessful, then I checked the solver output which shows the following information:

       *** WARNING ***                         CP =       1.672   TIME= 15:48:46
The Distributed ANSYS solution does not support SOLID117 elements.
Distributed parallel processing will be deactivated for this solution.

       *** NOTE ***                            CP =       1.703   TIME= 15:48:46
Distributed parallel processing has been temporarily disabled.

       *****  ANSYS SOLVE    COMMAND  *****

*** TREE GAUGING FOR EDGE ELEMENTS ***

       *** ERROR ***                           CP =       1.766   TIME= 15:48:46
       *** GAUGE command aborted ***

       *** NOTE ***                            CP =       1.766   TIME= 15:48:46
Distributed parallel processing has been reactivated.

NUMBER OF WARNING MESSAGES ENCOUNTERED=          1
NUMBER OF ERROR   MESSAGES ENCOUNTERED=          1

***** PROBLEM TERMINATED BY INDICATED ERROR(S) OR BY END OF INPUT DATA *****

Can someone helps me to solve this? Many thanks!

The problem was solved after I made several different attempts, though I am not sure what exactly solved the problem. I am writing the possible reasons according to my personal experience as an instruction to other people who may face the same problem as mine:

      1. Try merging your geometry to one part with separate bodies (use the closure command in Tools)

      2. Trying adopting appropriate meshing size

      3. Assigning suitable materials to different parts

      4. When using 'strand' type of current source, make sure you flux parallel faces (closure faces) contact directly to your current and voltage applying faces

Hope these would be helpful, good luck!

      Hi,

I had the same problem and the Solution numbered 1  above worked for me

      thanks

Hi I am getting this same error while solving.

      "
The Distributed ANSYS solution does not support SOLID117 elements.
Distributed parallel processing will be deactivated for this solution. "

Can you help me how to solve it , I have recently started working on ANSYS and i have tried all 4 methods discussed above.

      Thank you.

I have the same issue working on an eddy current braking system and I am having the same issue as this. nn
