SubscriberOne of our engineers, is having issues with ANSYS opening DWG and DXF files. The error he is getting is "The selected file is of an unsupported or uncocnfigured Geometry type. The Geometry source has not been changed. Please select a supported geometry type before proceeding". The odd thing, is he never got this message until we upgraded from 2022 R1. Any help would be appreciated.

SubscriberUnfortunately, it is not as we do not use solidworks. We only use AutoCad and Inventor.

Ansys EmployeeHi Nicholas, as the free student version does not support any CAD connections, I am assuming you are using a commercial version. Have you bought it from us or our Channel partners such as RAND? If you have bought it from Ansys directly, you should be able to open a new SR with us directly at Customer Support and Help Desk: Submit a Request | Ansys if it is from RAND, you can try their site Submit Support Case | Rand SIM . Please let me know if any of these two is possible.
In general, depending on version of Mechanical a few CAD versions are supported, can you please check if you are using the supported CAD version for Windows (ansys.com) or Linux (ansys.com).
You can also check it here: https://www.ansys.com/content/dam/it-solutions/platform-support/cad-support-2022-r1.pdf
Also, please check if your CAD interface is installed while doing the installation and also if it is configured using Product & CAD Configuration Manager (ansys.com).
Please let us know!

SubscriberI'm sure it was directly from you. My boss is the one who purchased it, I'm just the one who has to install it and fix it. But I did ask him to find our customer number so I can create a SR but I can't create that account without that number.Â

Our AutoCAD versions range from 2022 and up. Yes, the CAD interface was installed during installation and it was configured.
