Hi, I am wondering what are the equations used in the additive science  to calculate : 1- the melt pool dimensions 2- the solid ratio and the powder ratio in the porosity simulation... ?. Are heat transport equations implemented when simulating the result? what are the first-principle equations used? 3- in the microstructure simulation what is the approach used or the equations used ?

I have read the article of  https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2214860417303998 and i did not found the answer either in this article or in the documentation of ANSYS

      thank you.

You may have already seen this, but if not, please refer to the Additive Print and Science User’s Guide -Part 3 – Performing a Single Bead Parametric Simulation.

As far as I know, we don’t document specific equations for the melt pool geometry, but we are basically calculating expected melt pool dimensions based on laser dia, laser power, laser speed, powder deposition layer, baseplate temperature and all powder material properties.
