Hello, I am currently using ANSYS for education purposes. About a month ago, I was able to use ANSYS without a problem. However, after I got my laptop hard drive upgraded, and installed ANSYS EM suite 19.1 again, I wasn't able to open it. Everytime I tries to open the application, it pop-up an error message: "Unable to detect installed products. Please make sure that config/admin.xml exists in your installation directory and is syntactically." During installation, I followed the steps mentioned in the install guide. I set directory as default.

Thank you for you help in advance.

Open up Registry Editor, then browse to

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREAnsoftElectronicsDesktop2018.1Desktop

then look for the value of InstallationDirectory  , does this match your current AEDT 19.1 installation ?

      Hi,

I followed your instruction, both directory are the same. But the problem still resist. I tried to uninstall and install couple times but it doesn't help. What should I do next?

Try renaming this HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREAnsoftElectronicsDesktop2018.1  to anything else

Also try renaming C:UsersusernameDocumentsAnsoft    to anything else

I am facing the same problem. And trying above things did not help.

Any more ways to track down the issue and fix it?

In any Windows File Explorer, right click on your 'Documents' on the left pane, then 'Properties' . Post your 'Location' here.

You can also try renaming the "Ansoft"   folder to see if that helps.

It was not my computer. I was helping my professor out. She said she created a new user account on her Windows computer and tried to open HFSS using the new account, it worked. So it's probably something related to user accounts in windows, if anyone is interested.

      Thank you for the response.
