ANSYS error unable to attach geometry error

      Hi there,

I'm currently using ANSYS 18.1 that my university provides me. I'm trying to make a scaffold consisting of rods stacked in layers, with each level being rotated 90 degrees. Picture attached below.

nBring the original geometry into SpaceClaim and try to make the circular cut there.nAre all the rods solid?nWhat is the function of the structure?nWhat type of analysis are you attempting to do?nWhat output do you need from the analysis?nWhat holds the rods from moving?nYou could try to use ACP/Prepost since this looks like a composite layup.n

nThe rods are solid but there are 100mm holes at regular intervals long their lengthnThe structure is for human cartilage repair and will be implanted in the body nI'm required to find the maximum von-mises stress and the deformation of the structurenThe rods are constrained together through Inventor nI'm sure what ACP/Prepost is as i've only had experience with static structural on workbench, could you elaborate?nThanksn

nWhat is the rod diameter and what is the rod spacing? What is the hold spacing? What is the alignment between the holes and the contact pointsnRods may be constrained in Inventor, but that means nothing to ANSYS, which creates its own Bonded Contact.nHow are the rods bonded together physically, in the real world? What is the rod material?nHow is it supported? How is it loaded?nACP is Ansys Composite Prepost used for designing the layers of Carbon Fibers that stack up at different angles. Your structure looks like that.n
