Ansys Maxwell Induction motor fault modeling

I am a student working on fault detection in induction motors, I'm new to ANSYS  Maxwell. Iwant to simulate the response of the motor under various faults such as "stator short circuit", "broken rotor bars", "Bearing faults" etc.
I don't know if Ansys Maxwell or Ansys MotorCAD provide the flexibulity to introduce these faults in the motor design.
Thanks in advance, any help in clarifying this is much appreciated.

      Hello Aioub SAI,

You can do this analysis using Maxwell 2D/3D.

      Stator side faults:

You need to change excitation type to external for stator windings. Create a Maxwell circuit. In maxwell circult, connect windings(star/delta) through controlled switches(as per your analysis). You can operate these switches as per your requirement (short/open ckt faults).

      Broken rotor bars:

You need to assign each rotor bar to winding and excitation type as external. Create a Maxwell ckt. connect rotor bar winding through controlles switches to end ring parameters as shown in fig.

you can open the switch at a perticular time instance.

      Thank you.

      Hello Harinath Vudumula,

Thank you for the clarification. I have a student license for now but it's limated, I can't do the transient analysis. What kind of license can I demand for this and how much would it cost me, knowing that it's for me individually not for the university.

      Best regards

The type license that you would required depends on the actual application you would be working on. In order to take forward, please share details related to the region, where you are located. We will pass on this information to the consern team members.

I am located in morrocco north Africa, I am working on fault diagnosis in induction motors. I think Ansys maxwell is enough for this type of application.

      Hello

ANSYS Maxwell is a powerful electromagnetic field simulation software that can be used to analyze the performance of electrical machines, including induction motors. While it may not provide direct capabilities for modeling specific faults in the motor, you can use additional tools and techniques in conjunction with ANSYS Maxwell to simulate the motor's response under various faults.

      Hello steve diaz,

Can you give me examples of additional tools and techniques that can be used in conjunction with ANSYS Maxwell for fault diagnosis. I can only think of Matlab/simulink.

      Thanks
