ANSYS Mechanical APDL Running unusually slower

      Hello,

I have the ANSYS 2019 R2 installed and I use Mechanical APDL in a very  regular basis.

All of a sudden, literally from one day to the other, the program started to run a lot slower. Meaning, one day I would run a certain code with 200 iterations in 10 seconds, and the other day I ran the same code but it took more or less 5 minutes.

This may seem insignificant but there are certain simulations taht is should run in 5 minutes and actually takes more than half-hour.

If anyone could help me solve this question I'd be very thankful.

      need some more information:

This before and after is about the same machine and same ANSYS version?

Are you comparing the performance of the same model?

If both the answers above are yes, do you remember what was changed?

      Did you change HPC settings?

      Hello,

Both answers are yes. Exact same version and same code/model.

I did not change absolutely anything. My Launcher looks exactly like the one in your picture.

do you have solve.out files of the same projects? comparing them in a text editor such as notepad++ will give an idea about the difference in time required.

I don't, and the only files I have are from the latest project.

But any other project which was solved before, (when it was faster), will do, as you can rerun the same project again and check the time difference along with the reason for the delay in the old vs new output file.

I can't find the output file, it doesn't seem to exist in the directory in which I'm running the project.
I already Uninstalled and Installed again (now the R3 version) and the problem doesn't go away.

mvinhas, there must be a solved project that can be used to compare the run time, any previous project would do. Without that, it would be very hard to guess what changed.

As you did not change anything willingly, it is hard to narrow down why it would take so much of more time for same task.
