ansys not opening

      Hello,

I have recently renewed my ansys student license but still the ansys software doesn't open. When i click on the software icon it opens for just a second or few, showing 'initiallizing license' in the left bottom corner and then it closes without showing any error. I even tried to update my graphic card but that doesn't work.

Pls tell me a solution for this problem. I have attached some screenshots if it helps.

Please post screenshots in the content with text as ANSYS employees are not allowed to download attachment.

Try open CMD Prompt and enter the following command

      move "%appdata%ansys" "%appdata%ansys.old"

      and see if this helps.

      Hi there,

Thanks for the help but i deleted all the data and files of ansys, uninstalled the software and re-downloaded it and now it works perfectly. Thank you for the help anyways.

      Hi tsiriaks,

Thanks for the response. I had the same problem and used your command in the command file and it solved my problem of opening the Ansys. Could you please describe what this command is doing and how we can avoid the same problem in the future?

Thanks in advance for the guide.

      Hi anuragpatole4ehsan120,

That's great news. I'm glad things are working fine for you now.

ehsan120 , this command basically backup a configuration folder that ANSYS (Workbench) stores on the machine. Technically this folder can be deleted as well but we just back it up in case we want to reuse some settings in there. In either case, once Workbench doesn't see this folder it will create a new one next time it's' launched. So, this is similar to recover the original state of the software (when first installed) before it saves any configurations. These configurations sometimes could have corrupted or have some hung files, so taking this folder out could help. Unfortunately, I can't say specifically the exact cause of your issue.
