Ansys Rocky License issue

      Hi everyone,

I have an issue with running the Rocky DEM after installing the license, and I would appreciate it if you can give me some hints.

I have got an Ansys Rocky license to add to my current Ansys license (Academic license). I installed the license on the workstation using Ansys license manager, and it seemed it was installed successfully. However, when I am going to run one of the tutorials, after running the Rocky DEM software, a message appears of "not finding the license file possible reason: the desired vendor Dameon down".
Is it possible that HostID and MAC that I have provided to get the license might be wrong? I see that I have two MAC addresses in my computer as below.

      Ethernet adapter Ethernet 2:

         Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
         Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
         Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (3) I219-LM
         Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : -  -  -  -  -
         DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
         Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes

      Ethernet adapter Ethernet:

         Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . : umd.edu
         Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) I210 Gigabit Network Connection
         Physical Address. . . . . . . . . :   -  -  -  -  -

      Thank you!

Did you install Ansys Rocky from the Customer Portal or ESSS Rocky from their site? Is the licence key from us (Ansys) or ESSS?

      Hi Robert,

Thank you for your reply. The license key is from Ansys. I had downloaded the application (Rocky 4.5) before on my computer from ESSS and installed that with the new license from Ansys.

I contacted our support team for Ansys in our department today, and they said that I have given the MAC which our Ansys enterprise license on it, and I must have probably given them the local MAC of my computer to add the new license. For the Rocky license, I gave them the second MAC ( Ethernet adapter Ethernet:  Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . : umd.edu

      )

I just downloaded and installed Rocky from Ansys customer portal. I tried to start it from workbench, and this time I got this error message :Can't communicate with the wrapper Rocky instance.

Can you launch Rocky in standalone mode? I followed the steps you did and all is working, well other than the model I'm working on, but that's another problem!

      Hi Rob,

No, I can't start it at standalone mode either. My question is how I can know that the information in the license file (MAC address) is correct. I wonder if I have given wrong MAC address when requesting the license file from Ansys. If you see in my first post above, I have two MAC address on my computer and I gave Ansys the second one to obtain the license. Is it possible that the license was issued for the second MAC address, but Rocky needs the first MAC address to verify the license and run?

It should call the same MAC address as the main Ansys licence.
