SubscriberI am facing issues while sketching anything in ansys workbench 2019 R1. I am getting multiple geometries or lines while using any sketching tool. I have attached images of it as well. Please help me.
Thank You
Edit:- I have nvidia 920 mx graphics card on my laptop, i installed latest drivers for it and uninstalled ansys 2019 R3 and installed ansys 2020 R1 but the same problem persists as above. If anyone would help me, it would be great !

Forum ModeratorCheck you're using the NVIDIA card rather than the default one (right click on the launcher icon and it's Graphics Settings/Card or similar. Given the colour scatter it's almost certainly graphics.
As an aside, posting links in other people's threads won't get an answer any faster. It will however annoy the moderators.

SubscriberYes I have seen the graphics settings of my laptop, nvidia graphics settings>3D settings>global seetings>High performance nvidia graphics settings. But still this problem persists. I don't know what is wrong, I guess it shouldn't happen this bad while just sketching. Even I have updated my nvidia 920mx graphics card with latest driver. Is there any way to check ansys uses nvidia graphics card or is there any way to solve it?
I'm sorry if I annoyed you, I am new here seeking help after so many searches in google and all, then my post here was unnoticed for long time so I didn't know how to seek help. Only for that reason I posted so I might get some attention for help in this as I' approaching my assisgnments deadline.
Thank You

Ansys EmployeeDid you also have the same issue for 2019 R3 and 2020 R1 ?
What ANSYS installation packages did you use ?
Do you have any install.err file under ANSYS Inc installation directory ?
From Workbench, click on Tools -> License Preferences -> Post screenshots of Geometry tab and Preppost tab

SubscriberThanks for replying.
Yes I am facing the same issue in both ansys versions. I had earlier installed ansys 2019 R3 student version but that showed that problem, i uninstalled ansys completely and updated the graphics driver and installed ansys student 2020 R1 but the same problem persists.
Yes i checked the ansys inc folder and it has a install.err log file.
Here are the screenshots of the geometry tab and preppost tab,
Thank You

Ansys EmployeeThanks for the info.
Please post the content of install.err file here.
You can try the following command
move "%appdata%ansys" "%appdata%ansys.old"
in CMD Prompt.
If that doesn't help, you can try reverting back your Nvidia Control Panel setting to use your integrated (on-board) graphics instead but make sure you update its driver
Please also post the output of
set
command from CMD Prompt.

SubscriberFirstly I run the command that you provided, and the output as seen as below,
It didnt work, then I reverted nvidia graphics to integrated graphics card and yes it worked, the things on the software were not sharp as it was using integrated graphics card but then I tried reverting back ansys to use my nvidia graphics card and splendidly it worked perfect. All thanks to you. You are a saviour.
I have a doubt, I have installed in another drive other than C drive in my laptop (drive f in my case), will it cause any problem anytime?
This the is the error log file,
I don't understand the errors mentioned in this error file, can you help me solve it? I will be using solidworks to create geometries for my project and importing to ansys to perform analysis. Is this error will cause me problems?
Thank You once again.

Ansys EmployeeIs this F a local disk drive or it's a mapped network share drive ?
If it's a local disk, any drive letter is ok.
For this issue, it's quite worrisome. I would try to reinstall and make sure this error doesn't show up. To do a fresh install, run the uninstaller.exe with 'run as admin' under your 'v201' folder, then manually remove the 'ANSYS Inc' folder. Now, you can re-install ANSYS again but I recommend to put your ANSYS installation package to a shorter path, like F:Temp. You can keep your installation directory like what you specified. Don't forget to run the setup.exe with 'run as admin'
On another note, ANSYS student license doesn't support Solidworks geometry import, it only supports
Neutral format import IGES, STEP
and
Parasolid (native within Ansys DesignModeler)

SubscriberYes F drive in my laptop is a local disk.
I did as you suggested, I uninstalled Ansys completely from my laptop including the Ansys app data files and other hkey files using registry editor as i read in a post earlier in this forum. I reinstalled it and I saw that last time some things were not installed successfully but this time it did, even last time I was not able to find spaceclaim geometry option but this time i could find it but I still get this installation error as below,
How to solve this ? Is this a problem?
Thank you

Ansys EmployeeThis issue happened when it tried extracting Aqwa and Forte files, if you don't plan to use these two tools, it should be fine to leave as-is. But if you want the install to be 100% successful, you could try reinstall with above steps again. But this time, before the installation, uninstall your 7zip and any other extraction tools on your machine first. Just let Windows built-in extraction do the work. You can reinstall those tools back afterwards.
Thanks,
Win

SubscriberThank you so much. You are a saviour for me. I appreciate your patience and problem solving attitude, just the right trait to help people in this student community. I tried re-installing so many times after your last suggestion, because everytime I used to get error in one or two modules but I continued it hoping it would install error free at some point. I dont know, maybe because I had 7zip or some other app, even after uninstalling, still maybe it was causing some error. But at last installation run error free, I couldn't find any error log file in Ansys Inc. folder and there is no color scattering problem in ansys workbench as well. I guess its fine now.
Thanks,
Deep
