Subscriberhello
I had installed ANSYS student v17.2 for my masters degree project not more than 3 months ago. Suddenly one day i got a message while opening the mesher "one or more ANSYS products will expire in 21 days. Please contact your license provider or ansys inc" . I did everything correctly during installation and i was hoping for a one good year without any issue.
Will it cause any problem after 21 days ?? And what is the validity period of the license ??
NOTE- I once changed my laptop time to 1 year back for some reason, then some issue came up while opening ansys, so i again changed back to the original time and ansys had been working fine since then.
Now this happened. Please take some time and respond to my issue. will i a have to download new license or something else ?
THANK YOU

Ansys EmployeeNo. If you wish to continue with 17.2 then download new key from prior releases section and follow step 2 from this video (t=4.45)

SubscriberThanks again. I learnt using ANSYS by watching edx.com/cornell university lectures and they suggested for the v17.2. If i change now to v18, will it be a major change for 17.2 users ?
However i am happy with this version of ansys, i am just asking out of curiosity.
thank you

SubscriberHello Sandeep,
I am currently taking the EDX Course by Cornell University and they recommended the ANSYS 18.2 and also informed that there isn't much changes from the 16.2 (Version in which the videos were shot) and the current Version - 18.2
Also, I had a doubt with your original question.
Can i install the newer versions for free, after the current version's Licence expires ?
Thank you!
Suyog Dani

Subscriberhello Peter,
I currently have Ansys student 19.2, it has been incredibly helpful and is essential for my masters dissertation but the license expired yesterday. How do renew the license since 19.2 is the latest release on the website?

SubscriberFollow the link you have, but look in the list under ANSYS Student 2019 R2, there is a link called Prior Releases. Under Prior Releases, you will find ANSYS 19.2. Download a fresh copy. Uninstall your current software then install the new download.

SubscriberHello Peter,
I have tried to download a new version of ANSYS 19.2 several times although keep getting the old license and it will not renew. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times with the newly downloaded files and this doesn't work.
Any idea what I can do?
Thankyou,
Josh

Ansys EmployeeYou'll need 2019R2 (which is NOT R19.2) for the more recent licence.
