SubscriberHello
I am newbie in Ansys Workbench and want to analysis the what is circumstances if a projectile shoot from a barrel, in my recent analysis tje projectile travels short distance then its velocity becomes zero, i attached the file, is anyone avaliable to help me with this case
Thanks in advance

SubscriberPlease delete your duplicate post. What version of ANSYS are you using?
I opened your archive and took a section through the barrel and projectile. See how the coarse mesh of the barrel is causing interference with the projectile? There is no clearance between the projectile and the barrel, the projectile is jammed in tight.
Change the geometry so that there is a nominal clearance between the projectile and barrel, and use Multizone Mesh Method on the barrel and projectile to get smoother cylindrical element faces. Include your Parasolid geometry file in a zip file if you want help with your mesh.

SubscriberHello Peter
I have used v18.1 .I modified the CAD model as you told it is in the attachment, also i sent the model by e-mail
Thanks for all so much

SubscriberHello Ozkan,
I recommend you simplify the model until you get something running. I cut off the second half of the barrel.
In DesignModeler, I used a plane to slice the bottom of the barrel off, then I put that and the barrel into a multibody part by picking them and selecting Form New Part. I assigned Multizone mesh control to the bottom of the barrel. This allows the mesher to make a nice clean mesh on the barrel and connects them using shared topology.
I also cut the tip off the projectile to get a nice mesh. You don't need a pointy tip since there is no air in your simulation.
Note in the Mesh Details that Size Function is Proximity and Curvature and Num Cells Across Gap is set to 2.
The Projectile and Charge had a Sizing mesh control on the bodies of 15 mm.
Don't forget to suppress all the automatically generated Bonded Contacts!
I haven't done the research to know how detonation and explosives work in Explicit. I hope you have.
I did this in 19.0 so you can't open my file. Do these same few things to your file and send that back to me.
Are you on the limited Student license or an unlimited Research license?
Kind regards,
Peter -

SubscriberHello Peter
It has been modelled in 18.2 but we have research license version 19 also , Can you send me the file that you have updated ?

SubscriberHello Peter,
? would love to thank you for your valuable help with the barrel analysis, we have got a good progress so far , But the current problem is that i couldn't accelerate the projectile as it had to be . In real life conditions, the projectile has 1200 m/svelocity , when it has just rejected from the barrel but now we got just 430 m/s aprox. we have increase the explosive amount in order to accelerate it . But now it occurs ''energy error too large Error'' . We have incerase the reference energy cycle, it doesnt solve the problem still working on it, any suggestion ??

SubscriberHello özkan,
Glad you have made good progress. I assume you have a longer barrel now. I haven't done any modeling with explosives, so I'm not sure how it works. Is a gas formed that pushes on the projectile? There was a generous clearance between the projectile and the barrel. Perhaps reducing that clearance would help.
I hope someone else in the Community can advise you on the next step.
Regards,
Peter
