I have simulated a flow over a perforated plate which located infront of h-beam (as in figure), and i need to calculate the drag of it, I had put the plate under porous media condition and the 2 side of the plate I had put as interface and mesh interface was added on it. The problem comes when I wanted to calculate the drag of the plate because the plate is not under wall boundary condition. Could anyone teach me how to calculate it either in fluent or manually?

koonyew, the .wbpz file has to be < 120 MB for the upload to be successful.
If the file is larger than 120 MB, click on Mesh and Clear Generated Data, then save the project then save an archive. That will reduce the file size.

Dear Koon Yew,
You have uploaded the .wbpj file which is insufficient to open your project. There is a folder with the same name with a _files postfix that is also required. In Workbench, with the project file open, if you click File, Archive... you will create a .wbpz file, which contains both the .wbpj file and the folder in a single file like a zip file. That is the file extension that is permitted. The .wbpj file extension is not permitted because it is not useful. Please create the archive.
You can also create a zip file of the .wbpj file and the base_files folder and upload that instead.

Hi Koonyew, Fluent calculates the drag on the walls. In my understanding, fluid is passing through the plate interface, correct? Then there is no way to do it. You could calculate drag with absence of porous media by defining plate surface as a wall.

Yeah the fluid passing through the plate interface. However if I set the wall boundary condition for the plate, the flow caannot pass through it, and the result is not the one I want. In my opinion, the only way to calculate it is create the holes on the plates instead of using porous media condition, Is it correct? Or we can actually calculate the drag by using the pressure drop we know?

If you know the hole dimension then you can calculate the drag as FD=1/2 density x plate surface area exposed to fluid x (fluid velocity)^2
