Change material property during solution.. Would the simulation adjusts to new property value?

I have a simple question: If I changed the value of a material property (e.g. radiation absorption coefficient) midway through a transient simulation, would the simulation adjusts itself to the new property value or would it suppress this change? I would like to note that the residuals have not changed much after the change. Thanks.

It'll adjust to the new property from that point, so for a steady case expect a spike in the residuals. However, depending on how influential the property is the difference in solution could be very small.
