Checking von-Mises stress results

Let's say we have a spherical pressure container.

I know that for calculating the stress of a spherical wall, one can use sigma=pr/2t where sigma is the stress, p is the pressure inside, r the radius and t is the thickness of the sphere wall. Can the value be compared with Von-Mises stress I get from the simulation in Ansys? I get more or less equal values and I was wondering if this is a good way of validating the simulated results.
