Could you please help me understand the physics behind conduction heat transfer?

Conduction is one mode of heat transfer where heat is transferred because of vibrations of molecules and atoms . This mode of heat transfer is active in all phases - solids, liquids, and gases. Since the molecules are more closely spaced in case of solids, this mode of heat transfer is most predominant in solids.
