contact problem with an air gap

I want to simulate an electrostatic-structural problem, so I need to keep the air gap between two solids in contact. However, even I make the air part element type 0, it still doesn't allow me to create a contact pair because it's not exterior. Is there any method to create contact with air gap?

I don't understand your problem description. Please use the Insert Image button and put some images into your reply to show the problem with images where the important features are labeled.

Thanks, so basically I want to model the contact between two solids A1 and A2 as marked in the image, and A3 is the air. I set the element type of A3 to 0, but when I tried to create contact pair for the two lines, the error message always pops out:

So how can I create contact pair with air gap in between?

I can't help you with the ANSYS Mechanical APDL product, I only know Workbench. Hopefully, someone else can answer.
