Corrupted files

      HI there

I've format my laptop recently and install ansys 2020 r2. Previously I've been using ansys 19.

The problem is when i want to launch my project the notification showed that the file is corrupted.

I've attached the photo for your reference.

      Kindly advice on this matter.

      Thanks

Copy the folder which has all the data somewhere safe. Then see what happens when you click on Yes as above. Which solver are you using as the data should be safe in the copied folder and can probably be imported into a new session. n

OK. If you do need to move Workbench projects archive the project and move the archive. That will extract into any specified folder when you use it and means it can't get confused about the location. n

Are you saving directly to the external disc? If so is it USB 3? It's an older issue with early USB drives that the solver pushes data faster than the disc writes and some corruption can occur. I've not seen it recently, but mainly because I always tell the students I teach not to do it. n

Yes i'm saving it directly to the external HD. I'm not sure if it got related to the latest software release but previously before i've formated my laptop i was using Ansys 19 student version and it just working fine. And it's a problem for me to use internal storage as the simulation took a lot of space for my simulation file.n

Extract any files you can from the WB folder (look in /FLU for .cas and .dat files) and hopefully you can open them to get the data out. The geometry should be in there somewhere too. Check what's on the internal HDD and see if you can work from that. Copying archives over later is fine, it's the direct writing that can go wrong. n
