SubscriberHello everyone! I am trying to simulate a tensile test under standard ASTM D638 but I am having issues with the stress distibution because max stress point is not where it should be (narrow area). See attached images. I have been told that the problem I am having is because of the mesh I generated. I would like to know if this is true. Thank you in advande for any help.

SubscriberThe mesh looks okay. Cut the element size in half and solve again. How much does the Max. value change. Repeat. Try changing the color map of the plot. Grab the short line between the blue and light blue colored boxes and drag that up to increase the value where the blue starts to bunch the other numbers up closer to the maximum value. This will give you a better view of how the highest stress is distributed on the part. You can also get the Probe button and click on a few points in the center to see how much they differ from the Max value.
