SubscriberI am not able to define a new material with a thermal conductivity of 0.5W/mK in the thermal solution module. neither 0.5 nor 0,5 works. I always get 5W/mK in the material definition.

I tried creating a test material using a thermal conductivity of 0.5 W/m-K and can do that without any issue:
Generally a dot helps in specifying the decimal value unless you have different settings at your end. A comma on the other hand is not recognized and 0,5 will be read as 5. Can you please try with a dot again and do let me know if it helps. Also, please let me know what language you are using.

I have copied the Plastic material and tried to change the 0.2 W/mK value to 0.3W/mK.
Finally the value switches to 3W/mK.

I haven't heard of such an issue before. We can try deleting the material library.
- Please close any open session of Discovery Live
- Go to C:Users**AppDataRoamingSpaceClaimDiscoveryMaterialLibrary and delete the MaterialLibrary.xml file placed there.
- Open a new session of DL.
In case the problem still remains, can you please do a screen recording and share with me so that I can know of what exact steps you are following to change the material property.

Thanks for sharing the screen recording, I can see the problem you are facing. It seems like with comma, dot is not getting recognized while specifying a value. May be some setting at your end might have lead to this, as I am not running into any such issue at my end.
Can you please try resetting user settings by going to file > Live Options > Advanced > General > Reset all user settings
Please let me know if this helps or not.
Regards,
Gaurav

"Reset All User Settings" works. I have an OS with German language. Switching back to the default language (German), I am able to define a thermal conductivity of 0,3W/mK. Switching the language of Discovery Live back to English I am not able to define a thermal conductivity of 0.3W/mk nor of 0,3W/mK. Both decimal values are ignored and I get 3W/mK instead.
Do you have any idea how to manage this issue?
(I have also deleted the Material Library file as suggested)

The decimal symbol can be governed from local settings
Start Menu > Search for “Region and Language Settings” > Additional date, time, & regional settings > Region: Change date, time, or number formats > Formats: Additional Settings > Decimal Symbol.
The operator used here will dictate what symbol you have to use in DL, to specify a decimal.
Can you please check this setting at your end and make necessary changes as per your priority. i hope it helps.

Gaurav

sorry for my delayed answer. The decimal symbol is set to ",".
The problem is to use English language for Discovery Live / Space Claim on my workstation with an OS using German language and "." as the Decimal Symbol by default.
Do you have any hint?

What if you set the decimal operator to "." (dot) and continue Discovery in English. This would ensure consistency between the local settings and Discovery and both would treat dot as decimal.
Thanks & Regards,
Gaurav

Setting the decimal operator to "." (dot) would cause a lot of trouble using Excel here in Germany. Almost all documents refer to the decimal operator "," (comma).
I expect that Discovery Live is able to manage this issue in future. Switching to English language is mandatory for us. For the decimal operator it doesn't matter whether it is "dot" or "comma".
Currently I think I have to use German language in combination with the decimal operator "comma" for Discovery Live to allow proper work. -

I understand that the workaround of switching to german is a bit tedious but I am afraid there isn't a better workaround available as of now.
I have reported development about this issue by filing a bug (147201) and will update you further as I hear back.
Thanks & Regards,
Gaurav
